Preserving Your Bounty

Are you concerned about the ingredients in the food you eat? Do you have a CSA share or vegetable garden and don’t know what to do with all those veggies?
This course will teach you how to preserve vegetables and fruits by canning, freezing, and drying and will introduce you to the necessary equipment. Recipes will include salsa, hot pepper jam, and pasta (tomato) sauce. Everyone will have a chance to try new techniques, sample what is cooked, and go home with the recipes. Students do not need advanced cooking skills to take this course. Each participant will leave with a jar of jam made in class!
Instructor: Jay Levine Instructor: Jay Levine has been raising vegetables for 40 years and runs the Hudson Valley Backyard Farm Company which installs and maintains organic vegetable gardens.

Locavore Challenge Dinner

Wild Hive Farm has accepted the Locavore Challenge presented by the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY) – http://www.nofany.org/events/ny-locavore-challenge and will host a presentation dinner consisting of all local products from local farmers. 
We hope you will join us in showing support for our local, organic farmers, food artisans, markets, co-ops and restaurants and enjoy an evening of fabulous food, coupled with a locavore presentation by our very own, Don Lewis. Our menu for the evening will include Wild Hive’s delicious oven roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, fresh local vegetables with garlic butter, a fresh assortment of Wild Hive breads and Chef Steve will surprise you with one of our sumptuous desserts!
Locally brewed beers and wines from Millbrook Vineyards will be available on a cash bar basis.
