A little about Wild Rhody and F/V Elizabeth Helen
The Elizabeth Helen is a 55 foot steel hulled inshore/offshore stern trawler with a 450 horsepower engine.

The mid-water and bottom trawl equipped boat is able to tow a scallop dredge in addition to trawl gear. The Elizabeth Helen carries a variety of nets, including gear designed to exclude non-target species and reduce ecological impacts of the fishing gear. Background: The boat was purchased by Steve in 2002 and has been extensively rebuilt both inside and out in the years following. Technology purchased by Steve, including net sensors which alert him to high levels of fish in his net, help him catch only what he needs and avoid waste. To properly maintain the Elizabeth Helen she is hauled out of the water once per year when the fishing is slow. This time is used to scrape and paint the hull, make any necessary repairs, and prepare for the next season.
