Frostfire Farm in Goshen, CT chemical-free
We farm a 5-acre field on one of the few remaining unpaved roads near our house in NW Connecticut. We grow berries, vegetables, herbs and flowers on a 1-acre plot. Our small flock of sheep provide compost for the garden and wool for handspinners and crafters. Fresh brown eggs are available from our free-ranged hens. Our gentle Jersey cows, Maple and Butter, have been joined by Butter's new daughter, Pumpkin! All of our crops -including the flowers- are Certified Naturally Grown. We have grown sustainably since we began farming in 1997, and the farm was certified organic in 2002 (by NOFA-CT.) We have continued using organic practices since then. We participate in Certified Naturally Grown inspections and adhere to the NOFA Farmer's Pledge.
Visitors to the farm are welcome on a moment's notice.
We are now accepting CSA members for 2010, our ninth season! Planning on a far better growing year --we expect to provide 15 shares again. Our native elderberries and delicious Bosc pears are included in the CSA share.
In our CSA, members receive the freshest food possible and the grower gets to know the folks eating her produce. Members become part of a local farm where crops are grown honoring Nature, in a way that heals our Earth and keeps us healthy. We all learn together about eating locally and seasonally!
