Beaver Meadow
Shares of the Harvest The garden is carefully planned to yield a variety of seasonal vegetables every week for twenty weeks or more. We are planning to produce eight shares in 2009. A share is designed for a family of four, a half share for a couple or smaller family. Whole share, $600 Half share $350 Picking up your vegetables You have signed up of a pickup day, either Tuesday or Friday. We pick your vegetables in the morning, and have them ready for you by 1 PM. There will be something for you every week until the end of the growing season, which will be in late October or possibly early November. Unclaimed bags: We leave the bags of vegetables out till the end of the day; we check the coolers after we finish supper, and bring in any unclaimed bags. We either use the food ourselves or give it away. If you can't get here on your day If you need more time to pick up your vegetables, call us and leave a message, and we will add some ice and leave them out for you. When you are away If you are going to be away or can’t pick up at all, please let us know ahead of time if you can. I will divide your share among the other shareholders that week. Since most shareholders have to skip a week when they are away, it tends to even out over the course of the season. The Garden The garden is off to the right as you stand facing the coolers. I take a lot of pride and pleasure in the garden, and am happy to have you come look around. The area behind the gate is our back yard. We prefer that to remain private. Contacting us The quickest way to contact us is to call 860 567 4465 and leave a message. I usually check my email in the morning, but occasionally don’t get to it for a day.

What is CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture, often shortened to CSA, is a prepaid subscription to a farm's produce for the season. Most CSAs give shareholders a weekly supply of veggies, herbs, fruits and sometimes even eggs and meat. You know it's fresh and you get to meet the farm and people who grew your food! The prepaid CSA arrangements also makes it a source of financial security for the farmer. Some CSAs also incorporate farm workdays for shareholders. Pickup days vary by farm and there are pickup locations across Connecticut.

CSAs have been very popular recently. Be sure to sign up early before subscriptions are filled!
